The 7th annual Diwali: Festival of Lights event on November 11, 2017 will bring together Indian Americans & other cultures and nationalities from across Florida for a traditional celebration of the year's most widely anticipated cultural festival, hosted by the Indian Regional Cultural Center (IRCC).

Diwali marks an annual festival where the triumph of good over evil, knowledge, peace and prosperity, and good health are celebrated by millions of Indians around the world. Festive foods, homes filled with light, skies bright with exploding firecrackers and get-togethers are ways in which Indians celebrate with family and friends.

The 7th annual IRCC Diwali: Festival of Lights event offers thousands of local South Floridians the chance to celebrate the festive holiday in the United States with as much pomp and circumstance as in India. The celebration will be Held on November 11, 2017, at the Broward County Convention Center, where attendees can visit over 80 vendor booths that provide a taste of rich, colorful Indian culture: clothing and jewelry shopping, henna painting, authentic Indian cuisine and more.

The stage program includes local youth sharing their talents in classical singing and dancing, followed by about 350-400 children dancing to top Bollywood songs. The highlight of this year's event includes a high school and nationwide inter-university dance competition, Diwali Dhamaka that features Bhangra, Raas/Garba and Bollywood Fusion dance.

"It has always been a dream to think the Diwali event could ever reach such a large scale attended by over 7,000 guests," said Mr. Sanjay Gupta, CPA, event co-chair and former IRCC president. "The festival committee, community, sponsors, vendors and guests have increasingly turned out to support the event making this dream come true."
