Join us on Tuesday evenings for drop in Mindful Yoga and Meditation sessions at Sabeena Yoga from 7-8pm. Bring a yoga mat and cushion as needed. See What is MBSR?MBSR is an experiential program based on the practice of mindfulness. Mindfulness is "paying attention in a particular way, on purpose, in the present moment, and nonjudgmentally." It enables individuals to step out of ‘automatic pilot’, and to connect and respond to daily life with increased awareness and self-control. Pioneered by Jon Kabat-Zinn, Ph.D. at the University of Massachusetts Medical Center in 1979, MBSR is an evidence-based program being offered at hospitals, work and learning environments nationwide. What are the Benefits of Mindfulness?Research shows that participants experience as:-enhanced memory and focus, -ability to live in present time, -creative problem solving, -better communication, -increased emotional control -healthier stress response.  Scientific research by the Association for Mindfulness in Education at The Department of Veterans Affairs has published findings on the effect of MBSR program on veterans at Who should attend? All seeking greater wellbeing and happiness are invited. Educators, Parents, Health Care professionals, Community leaders and others interested in cultivating and applying mindfulness are especially encouraged to take this class. Who is the Instructor?Knellee Bisram, M.A. is a Certified MBSR Instructor under UCSD, a Professor of Social Sciences, and a Consultant. She is the Founder of AHAM Education, a social investment initiative whose vision is to be a catalyst for personal transformation and social wellbeing by empowering youth, women, veterans, and at risk populations, through present moment awareness and positive thinking. A student of meditation and mindfulness for 30 years, she has been teaching ‘presence' in the community over the last 10 years.  ----------------------------
